Mwananchi Communications Ltd female staff marked the international women’s day by paying a visit to the wife of Mr. Azory Gwanda, a journalist who went missing over 100 days ago.
Mr. Gwanda’s wife, Anna Panon, delivered her second child in February this year in absence of her husband, who was abducted by unknown people.
Before his disappearance, Mr. Gwanda was residing and working from Kibiti in coastal region. He disappeared under controversial circumstances on November 20th last year.
Speaking on behalf of MCL women staff, Mwananchi health pullout editor Lilian Timbuka said that love, unity and solidarity pushed them to celebrate the day together with Mrs. Gwanda.
Ms. Timbuka expressed optimism that Mr. Gwanda is somewhere safe and someday the abductors will release him. “Our unity pushed us to come and console Anna during this testing period and we will continue praying for her husband to come back safely” she said.
She advised Mrs. Gwanda to remain strong despite going through a tough time.
For her Mrs. Gwanda said she was very delighted following the MCL workers visit, adding that she was thankful for the company for being on her side through the difficult time. “I have nothing to give all well-wishers including MCL women staff, but one day we will have the ultimate answer of what we are praying for” she said with tears flowing down her cheeks.
